Targets
What are Targets?
Targets simply refer to websites. These websites are ‘targets’ for VEN to read and report back the number of times a keyword appears. VEN automatically generates the top 5 websites denoted by Google i.e the first five websites that appear on page 1 of Google under a particular search topic. These 5 targets are simply a starting point, but users can choose to delete these and replace with any other ‘target’ website namely their own and/or competitors in order to understand how content meets the needs of searching customers.
When you create a project we do our best to populate it with 5 targets that relate to your project topic, but sometimes you might need to edit those targets.
You can either:
Create
Step 1
Go to your project
Step 2
Open the Targets dropdown on the top left
Step 3
Click 'Create'
Step 4
Enter the new target URL. Make sure you enter the URL in the correct format, like the example shown below.
We recommend visiting your target page in a new tab, copying the URL and pasting it in the Target URL input on VEN, to avoid any errors.
Step 5
Click 'Create' and your new target will be added.
Delete
Step 1
Go to your project
Step 2
Open the Targets dropdown on the top left
Step 3
Click 'Delete'
Step 4
A new window will pop up with a list of your current project targets. Have a look through them and decide which one(s) you want to delete.
Step 5
Click the trash icon next to the target you want to delete.
After deleting the target(s) of your choice you can click 'Done' to close the window.
